At the Allen Bass Fund our mission is helping children experience
the rewards, challenges and friendships of a
great summer camp.
Doug Fulle and Topper Ray are the newest members of the Allen Bass Fund Board of Directors. The pair were named to the board during its annual meeting August 20 at Camp Bil-O-Wood. A former camper, Doug is a Florida resident and the father of a current camper. He also manages the Camp Bil-O-Wood Facebook page. Topper resides in Pennsylvania and is a former camper and counselor. He also has a daughter in camp.
Doug and Topper join current board members Scott Thompson (president), Jennifer Kruzel (vice-president), Jeffrey Lapinski (treasurer), Terri Thompson (secretary) and Andy Korest.
Resigning from the board at its August 20 meeting were Steve Arbaugh (Michigan), Debra Brand (Georgia), Susan Kelly (New York), Andy Mason (Maryland) and Rob Walker (Michigan).
The Allen Bass Fund awarded more than $20,000 in scholarships to 12 campers for the 2011 camping season. Scott Thompson, president of the Allen Bass Fund board, presented checks totalling $21,800 to 'Uncle Paul' and 'Aunt Trisha' Ludwig (place your mouse here to see the photo of Trisha, Paul and Scott) at Camp Bil-O-Wood's annual awards banquet on August 20.
The $20,050 awarded in camper scholarships represents 96 percent of the funds donated for scholarships during the Fund's 2010-11 fiscal year. The 2010-11 scholarship funds were given to the Allen Bass Fund by 60 generous donors.
Since the Allen Bass Fund is recognized as a 501(c)(3) organization all donations to the Fund are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Since it started in 1987 the Allen Bass Fund has awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships to scores of needy campers through the generosity of its donors. If you would like to donate – any amount would be appreciated – mail your check, payable to the Allen Bass Fund, to:
